Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese medicine practice of inserting fine needles into the skin to activate different energy points throughout the body.
During an acupuncture treatment, your practitioner is bringing your body back into balance; in the East we refer to this as harmony between yin and yang, and in the West we term this homeostasis. At Angea our approach is just this, East meets West. Many of our acupuncture protocols are based on emerging areas of evidence-based research, and we combine these with a spitirual, esoteric touch.
Acupuncture has been known to support symptoms associated with menstrual health including PCOS, endometriosis and adenomyosis, menopause, acne, painful periods and more.
CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
Angea sources A Grade quality herbs from China and blend these by hand in our clinic in Prahran. Your practitioner will prescribe a unique herbal formula depending on your presenting symptoms and health goals. Chinese herbal medicine offers an energetic perspective to plant medicine: each formula is curated for five flavour synergy, the balance of yin and yang and supporting the guiding action of the chief herb.
In a Chinese Herbal Medicine consultation, our doctor will ask you many questions, feel your pulse, observe your tongue and physical body to reach a diagnosis.
Cupping is an ancient Chinese Medicine technique that dates back to 300AD and has been used traditionally in cultures outside of China including the Ancient egyptians, Africa and is still widely practiced across the Middle East.
Using glass cups and a hot flame to create a suction on the skin, cupping gently draws and pulls the skins and tissue upward into the cup, gently pulling from the under the fascial layer. Cupping aids in circulation of blood and lymph, increasing blood flow, removing toxins and dispersing any stagnation or “stuck energy” in the body.
Cupping is an excellent addition to your acupuncture treatment or as a standalone practice. Cupping may support symptoms associated with digestive issues, sore muscles related to poor posture (ie. sitting at a desk all day), circulatory issues, and detoxifies the skin.
Regular cupping may also support your immune system and is particularly effective in the lead up to colder months as a preventative technique as well as minimising the symptoms of a common cold (congestion in the lungs)
Moxibustion involves the burning of mugwort, a Chinese Herb, directly or indirectly onto the skin. Moxibustion is frequently used in our acupuncture treatments, however, for some conditions it is recommended to incorporate Moxibustion into your own at-home self-care routine. Moxibustion is used to warm cold or stagnant conditions to facilitate the smooth flow of blood and qi. Moxa may reduce symptoms of Endometriosis and PCOS as it facilitates the flow of blood through the uterus. Moxa may also support conditions such as the common cold by ‘drying’ mucus in the sinus and relieving congestion.
At Angea, we also use Moxibustion during the late stages of pregnancy – your practitioner may recommend a Moxibustion Induction Kit. Moxibustion has also been used for centuries to help turn breech babies, a technique we use frequently in clinic.
Moxibustion Induction Kit – $30 (includes moxa stick, demonstration video + guide)
Additional Single Moxa Sticks are available to purchase at the clinic
Drawing on the botanical power of the Chinese herb, mugwort, Amanda uses moxa and a medicine wheel to connect into the acupuncture point Spirit Gate where the clearing begins. During the session Amanda will connect to ancestral lineage to heal past and present trauma, clear stagnant energy and perform a blessing.
Each session is tailored to the client’s needs and requirements, however, women that have benefitted from this work include: women with menstrual conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS, unexplained fertility and trauma survivors. Amanda recommends a Womb Healing before starting your fertility journey.
Amanda has experienced past traumas and has journeyed deeply through her own transformational awakening. She now shares the tools that supported her healing journey and embodies the work that she teaches.
