Your Treatment Plan

As an integrative clinic, our approach involves both Eastern and Western medical diagnostics.

Prior to your appointment we will share a document with you to learn about your health goals, past medical history and any other areas of significance.

During your first visit your practitioner will take your pulse and observe your tongue, the two principal diagnostic measures in Chinese Medicine.  We will marry your Chinese medicine diagnosis with any previous blood tests, Ultrasound results and any other relevant information you have shared with us prior to your visit. What you’ll immediately notice is different at Angea, is we take the time to know you as a person. Your initial appointment includes a thorough consultation, where we spend time connecting, as well as acupuncture.

Following your first treatment, your practitioner will devise a treatment plan designed wholly to you. This may include Chinese herbal medicine, diet and lifestyle recommendations and Western medicine supplements.

FAQS for first timers

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles used during your acupuncture session are so thin, that often our clients will often ask if we have started the session or not. There may be a feeling of tingling or slight pressure upon insertion, however, you should not feel any pain throughout the session. During your session, you are always in the driver’s seat and if at any point you feel pain or uncomfortable communicate this to your practitioner.

CHECK AHPRA CONDITIONS

Acupuncture does have a few side effects

What is Chinese medicine?

Chinese Medicine is an ancient methodology that works towards the purpose of creating homeostasis, or balance, within the body. The Chinese medicine paradigm believes states of dis-ease occurs when our body is not in balance, therefore our treatments in clinic aim to bring your body back into a state of ease and balance.

How does acupuncture work?

During your acupuncture session, your practitioner will insert needles into your body to engage your bodies natural physiological processes, including blood flow, muscle stimulation and interactions with nerves. The needles are inserted in acupuncture points that are typically located along the meridians of the body.

Do I need something “wrong” to have a session?

No! While acupuncture can support the symptoms associated with both acute and chronic conditions, many of our patients come into the clinic for maintenance appointments. Acupuncture journeys us towards a parasympathetic state of being that is where rest and healing occurs.
