Discovered more the 100yrs ago in Japan by Mikao Usui – or Usui Sensei as we refer to him now – Reiki is an ancient art of natural healing which uses a direct link with the energetic Universal force of the Divine. A Reiki practitioner is able to utilise this Divine force, channelling it through their body where it exits through the palms toward the recipient of the healing. To be able to transfer this Divine energy without tainting its pure force, a Reiki practitioner must be pure of heart, mind and body – a true Reiki practitioner must walk without ego, to be a pure vessel (body). They must be attuned to the healing energies from the Divine subsequent to training under a Reiki master to be educated in the true principles of Reiki.
Reiki is a powerful yet gentle hands-on technique, which brings wholeness and oneness: it restores the natural balance of Yin-Yang elements within the body; dispersing any energetic blocks you may have accumulated. Energetics blocks present within the body whenever you are unable to process emotions which we then store within the body thereby creating dis-ease & dis-harmony. Reiki provides a way for this energy to escape the body so we are once again restored in our flow with both our surroundings and ourselves. On the treatment table you may experience some slight jolts or oftentimes feel the heaviness start to lift from you. This is perfectly normal; some people even fall asleep during treatment. Reiki brings a deep relaxation to both the body and the soul, thus evoking a sense of peace and wellbeing. Reiki works on an emotional, mental and spiritual level as well as disbursing the aliments of the physical body. It compliments – but does not substitute – the healing properties of all other healing modalities, including western medicine. Reiki has the advantage of being non-intrusive where the energy will pass through clothing, bandages, braces and plaster casts. To benefit from Reiki you need only be open and willing to receive this wonderful healing energy; anyone is capable of feeling the Universal Divine force of Reiki healing.
The picture below shows the original principles of Reiki as written by Usui Sensei and its English translation.
The Original Reiki Ideals
The secret art of inviting happiness
The miraculous medicine of all disease
Just for today, do not be angry
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work and be kind to people
Every morning and evening join your hands in prayer,
Pray these words to your heart,
And chant these words with your mouth.
Use Reiki Treatment for the improvement of body and mind.
