Why acupuncture?

We’re big advocates of the power and healing effects of acupuncture here at Angea. Acupuncture has been used for centuries.

Acupuncture works by placing extremely thin needles at specific points of your body. These needles work to balance of the flow of ‘Qi’ the body, loosely translated as the ‘life force’. It also works to stimulate nerves and encourage blood flow – all important for a healthy, successful pregnancy.

Why Yoga?

Yoga helps you emotionally, physically and mentally – no matter what stage of life you’re at.

You’ll go through so much during pregnancy – spiritually, physically and emotionally – and yoga helps you prepare for this exciting time in many different ways, including building strength and developing correct breathing techniques for labour.

The first 12 weeks

The first three months of your pregnancy are the most important developmental period for growing life. To give your little baby-to-be the love and care he or she needs to grow, you’ll receive weekly acupuncture treatments, especially if you have a history of miscarriages.

Preparing for labour

In your third and final trimester we start to prepare you for the big day using our natural, holistic methodology to support you physically, spiritually and emotionally.

Yes! We will prescribe acupuncture. Acupuncture treatment is applied in the 4 weeks before the due date for delivery.

The big push…aka: Birth Preparation.

Acupuncture for labour induction may be recommended as an option by your midwife. we would encourage you to discuss labour induction acupuncture with your birth team. From week 36 it is a wonderful time to start preparing your body,  physically and emotionally for labour and birth. Weekly acupuncture is recommended during this time to help prepare you for birth by relaxing your mind and body, and help to gently stimulate the body’s natural processes at the same time.
