“Women are going to form a chain, a greater sisterhood than the world has ever known.”

– Nellie L. McClung

The sisterhood. When you feel understood, appreciated and empowered. At Angea we feel a part of a sisterhood like no other, we support, nourish and love on each other.  This last week I’ve had the pleasure to interview one of my fellow Angea sisters, our very own Kimberley Peters who has stepped into her incredible practice of Fertility and Women’s Health Massage. I’ve been very lucky to witness Kimberley in her practice and had a treatment myself, but wanted to delve even further into her journey to how she got to where she is, what her approach to wellness is and what the womb means to her.

1.Kimberley, you’ve just begun practicing your amazing treatments of Fertility & Women’s Health Massage. You also are studying Chinese Medicine. How did you find this path, or how did this path find you?

From a very young age I was aware that I was “different”. I would sense things about people or situations and be very sensitive to the energies around me and people were drawn to me. I didn’t understand it then, but as I grew older I became aware of the gifts I had naturally been blessed with – I am an empath who can intuit people’s energies, am psychic and well connected to the Universal flow. The path towards practising fertility and women’s health massage and studying Chinese medicine was paved with these gifts being the foundations – I believe if you practice these kinds of healing modalities it does need to come from a heart-centred, compassionate space. There is a real difference in being a “technician” practitioner – having the tools and treating people, to being an “embodied” practitioner, which means you are a conscious human who does a lot of work on themselves and works from a place of love and service. Having built a career in the health and fitness industry for 15 years, there came a time when I realised that I wanted to serve from a much more powerful platform – and jumped into my Chinese medicine studies and more recently the womb healing/ fertility massage work.

2. What can women expect when walking through your doors for a treatment who haven’t been before?

Women can expect to walk through the doors and be met with a tranquil environment which has been saged and cleansed before they arrive, which is required for this deep kind of work to be done. They will be met with a huge smile from me, as I recognise that two people cross paths for a reason and due to divine guidance, they are in my treatment space as a key part of their healing journey. They can also expect to be listened to and heard, seen and witnessed and know that the healing space they are in is sacred and safe. For the treatment itself they can expect to be so comfortable and cosy on the treatment table with the treatment starting with them lying face down and me working on their back. Then they lie on their backs and I work on their beautiful wombs, upper abdomen, head and neck. The treatment ends with them being wrapped in authentic rebozo wraps from Mexico, similar to a baby being swaddled, this assists in bringing the woman’s energy back to her centre, after being open through birth or loss, or invaded through sexual trauma. We finish the treatment with either silence whilst being wrapped – silence is so underrated! Or a guided meditation to connect deeply with her womb. Post treatment, expect lots of self care advice and a change in periods, moods, stools, digestion, sleep and plenty more!

3. If someone isn’t going through a fertility journey or doesn’t experience painful periods, is this still something they can experience?

YES, absolutely! Whilst this modality is powerful for treating fertility and menstrual irregularities, women still love this treatment for deepening their heart to womb connection, learning about living their lives in sync with their menstrual cycles and simply to practice excellent self care by booking in for some “me time” massage.

4. You embody such a beautiful holistic approach to wellness, what does wellness mean to you?

Thank you Bella! Wellness to me means being authentic – being ME, in every way, shape form. I want that for ALL people. That they have the encouragement and support to BE themselves – this is how we live as well beings. Wellness is not just drinking green juice, buying the latest Lululemon attire, going to wellbeing seminars and detoxing. Wellness means your SPIRIT is well, your heart is well, your emotions are well, your relationships are well….wellness really means diving into all aspects of our life and doing the work to evolve, find our truth, face our shadow and accept all parts of ourselves.

5. What does the womb mean to you?

The womb to me means….WOMBAN….the very essence of a woman, the centre of her femininity, her creativity, the portal which connects the spiritual realm to the Earthly realm, the potential to create and hold life. It’s truly sacred, the womb and us Womben.

6. We’re all human and not meant to be walking an ‘enlightened path’ every minute of every day. But when you do get out of alignment or a certain situation makes you feel stuck, what is your go to, to bring you back to your centre?

This happens to me on a daily basis! We certainly ARE human beings – we get triggered and stuck and angry and emotional and totally out of alignment. It all matters. My go to for helping me feel centred again is to simply honour and witness what is present in the moment. No brushing off any ugly feelings – I witness what is present for me, remain curious about what it is here to teach me and allow it to move through me. Oh, and sometimes a really good cleansing cry or walk on the beach is just the thing I need to feel centred again!

7. What are your top 3 non-negotiables in your life that bring you the most joy and peace?

  1. A no-phone policy in the bedroom – an agreement my Husband and I made 2 years ago and have stuck to ever since – game changer. More connection, deeper intimacy, more pillow talk, better sleep ever since!
  2. Time with my family – I have an amazing family and there is nothing that fills my heart more with joy than spending time with them all.
  3. Living my purpose on this planet – to raise the vibration of the world! Sounds lofty hey?! It brings me joy and peace to help people heal so they can move through their pain and reach levels of acceptance and love within themselves they had not before. Collectively, if we all do this as humans…vibration of world = raised…right?

8. How important do you believe womb healing to be?

Womb healing is one of THE most important thing a woman can do for her fertility, relationship to her body, mind, spirit, for her menstrual cycle, after loss and trauma, for post natal healing….womb healing is really for ALL women for ALL stages of life. As women, we have lost touch with our womb to heart connection…a woman doing the work to heal her womb brings back this beautiful connection, which cultivates more flow in her life, more love, creativity, juiciness and acceptance of self. There is so much trauma, loss and pain in this world that womb healing is essential for wellbeing. Healing our wombs can assist healing trauma that runs through entire families and generations…if we decide we are the ones to step up and do the work, we can create powerful change in our lives.

Kimberley has immersed herself in health, nutrition, fitness and wellness for more than 15 years. Experiencing personal challenges with body image issues from an early age, Kimberley dove into learning about how to live a healthy lifestyle, breakthrough unhealthy patterns of yo-yo dieting, improve her body confidence and live a vitalistic, thriving life.

This path led her to study a Diploma in Fitness which opened the door to a thriving career as a Health Coach/ Personal Trainer where she established her own company and created fitness and wellness programs, working with hundreds of people helping them become their healthiest. Kimberley has also worked with large corporate companies creating workplace health programs, has published articles in some of Australia’s leading fitness/ wellness magazines and created and hosted wellbeing retreats in Seminyak, Bali.

Feeling the call to serve people from a much more powerful platform, Kimberley recently returned to study and is currently in her second year of a Bachelor of Health Science – Traditional Chinese Medicine degree, specialising in acupuncture and herbal medicine. Experiencing the power of TCM from regular treatment since her early 20’s, Kimberley is so excited to learn this beautiful, ancient Eastern medicine and knows it will allow her to help people and impact their lives in a dynamic way. Kimberley is passionate about supporting people on their health journeys using natural medicine and teaching them that their bodies have an innate intelligence that can heal itself.

Kimberley is now diving in even deeper to walk with women and support them along their fertility and health journeys, offering the beautiful modality, fertility and women’s health massage. This is an ancient style of massage blending a nurturing combination of physical, emotional and spiritual techniques to ready your body for conception. A deeply healing and non-invasive therapy, it can help with circulation, hormone balance, womb alignment and scar tissue release.
